Alex Chapman – consulting scientist and Research Associate, Western Australian Herbarium
Launched on Remembrance Day 1998 with a talk at the Kew Herbarium, FloraBase was an early example of an online science portal. Combining the considerable expertise and digital resources of the Western Australian Herbarium with the soon-to-be-completed Descriptive Catalogue (as championed by the Wildflower Society of WA).
Twenty years on, FloraBase is still maintained on a daily basis and planning is underway for the third complete renovation of the website. Alex will reveal some of the tricks and tips for using the site during the talk, so bring along your questions!
Here’s the link if you haven’t already visited the website – https://florabase.dpaw.wa.gov.au/
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
