Defend WA’s Nature – Parliament Action

6 August @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

WA’s nature won’t survive without strong nature laws!

WA’s nature is in crisis. After enduring the hottest, driest summer on record, our ecosystems are collapsing and wildlife populations are plummeting.

The South West of WA, a global biodiversity hotspot, faces the highest threat and loss of biodiversity in the nation, due to rampant deforestation. Alarmingly, 300 species are at extreme or high risk of extinction in our state.

At the same time, fossil fuel expansion and habitat destruction from industrialisation threatens precious ecosystems both offshore and onshore, pushing our wildlife to the brink.

At this critical moment, the WA Government is poised to introduce nature law reforms to Parliament this August. There’s a danger that these reforms could weaken the few defences currently in place, accelerating the destruction of our fragile environment.

Your voice is critical in the fight to defend WA’s nature! Join us on Tuesday, 6 August, when MPs return to Parliament.

Together, we must raise our voices – and give voice to the wildlife and ecosystems at risk – to demand that the WA Government halt any measures that undermine our nature laws.

Instead, we need stronger protections to defend WA’s nature now and for generations to come.

If you have a costume or clothing that represents your favourite Western Australian animal, please wear it! We’ll also bring some animal masks to the event.

See you there!
