Garden Design Talk – Shirley Fisher
26 February, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
$5.00Shirley Fisher OAM
Shirley Fisher grew up in South Africa in a family of passionate garden designers and created four different gardens there, mainly with local plants. She emigrated to Western Australia and transferred her interest in native flora to the native flora of West Australia.
Here in Bunbury, Capel and Dunsborough, she has created three different gardens. She has learned about local plants by helping to develop a native nursery in Bunbury (Leschenault Community Nursery) and being its main seed collector. As well, she has worked as a volunteer in the South West Regional Herbarium for DPaW in Bunbury. She is now very keen to find ways to use our local flora in traditional style gardens.
Shirley has no official qualifications in this field, but just a passionate interest, and is an accomplished and inspiring artist, gardener and designer. As a member of the Wildflower Society of Western Australia, Shirley has also been a member of the Garden Design Study Group.
