John Ewing: Red Wispy Spider Orchids and other stuff
13 February, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
$3.00Red Wispy Spider Orchids and other stuff
John Ewing – Life member, WA Native Orchid Society
There are over 450 different native orchids in Western Australia which come in a huge variety of shapes, sizes and colours. John’s talk will first look at one group – the red wispy spider orchids. When you are out in the bush and come across a red Spider Orchid that is not too big, you may be looking at any one of 14 different species. How do you know which one it is? John’s talk will aim to give you some tools (and a table of information) to be able to try and work it out. The second part of John’s presentation will be a bit of a tour showing most of the other genera of WA native orchids and a small amount of analysis on the way. Come armed with questions on any aspect of ‘bush orchids’ as there will be time for those.
