The time of a massive explosion of wildflowers throughout our bushland. A presentation highlighting the variety, uniqueness and above all the general beauty of our wonderful Western Australian flora; focusing on the wildflowers local to Armadale, a district which can be regarded as a biodiversity hot spot, being home to over a thousand species. To the traditional Noongar people, the flowering of so many of the plants throughout the bush were indicators of a special or important resource. Examples of such plants will be discussed. It is the season during which orchids reach a peak in their flowering and many of these are featured. Once acquainted with our local wildflowers hopefully, it will enthuse and entice people to get out and visit a local bushland reserve or two.
