May General Meeting featuring Laura Skates
11 May, 2021 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
$3The Perth Branch will be holding our General Meeting at the Subiaco Community Centre On Tuesday 11 May. Doors open at 7.45 pm and the meeting will begin at 8 pm.
This month we will be hosting a talk by Laura Skates on carnivorous plants: How hungry are carnivorous plants? Exploring the wonders of Australia’s carnivorous flora
Dr Laura Skates is a botanist and science communicator whose research focuses on the ecology and conservation of Australia’s native carnivorous plants. She recently completed a PhD at the University of Western Australia, using stable isotope techniques to explore the nutrition of carnivorous plants in their natural habitats, to better understand their ecology and evolutionary history and to help inform conservation efforts. Join us to hear about how these amazing plants work, the incredible diversity we have here in WA, and stories from Laura’s research in trying to understand just how carnivorous these hungry plants are.
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
