The Murdoch Branch will be holding our Annual General Meeting in a concise format prior to our guest speaker, Dr Eddy Wajon, who will be giving a talk on the plants of Hyden, WA
If you are interested in joining the Committee, please email murdoch.secretary@wildflowersocietywa.org.au
and let us know.
Positions available are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Committee Members. Current Committee members are all happy to renominate but we always welcome more people to come on board and share their skills. We are particularly looking with people with any media and communications skills.
There are wildflowers in bloom every month of the year in and around Hyden. The peak in wildflowers blooming is in spring, but the peak in Eucalypt flowering is January-March.
Eddy has written, published and distributed five Colour Guides to the Wildflowers of WA covering different regions including the South West and the Pilbara which have had combined sales of 55,000 since 1999.
He has also published Jim Barrow’s book “How to Enjoy WA Wildflowers” which has sold more than 1,500 copies. Eddy has contributed fauna, bird, pub (hotel), scenic, orchid and other wildflower photos to Australian calendars since 1998.
Together with his wife, Donna, Eddy owns conservation bush blocks in Tenterden (Mondurup View-46ha) and Boxwood Hill (Chingarrup Sanctuary-572ha) on which he has managed and personally undertaken revegetation and weed control. Chingarrup Sanctuary is located within the GondwanaLink and was the first property in GondwanaLink purchased for conservation. It featured on the ABC Landline program on GondwanLink in May 2014.
Eddy often leads wildflower walks and hosts wild weekends away surveying and photographing plants and animals.
He has just released his Colour Guide to Wildflowers of Hyden and Wave Rock (128pp) and will have some books available for sale @ $18 each.
Please join us for this interesting talk. All welcome.
