Patagonia Flora

4 February, 2016 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Dr Phil Ladd will be guest speaker at the February meeting of the Murdoch Branch of the Western Australian Wildflower Society.

He will share the findings and adventures from his very recent Patagonian perambulations.Having been part of the southern supercontinent, Gondwana, there are a number of biogeographic relationships with other southern continents. However there has still been a long separation from the other southern continents so divergence and immigrants from the north have contributed to forming associations that are very different from what we see in most of Australia.

Brian Moyle will present the insights on the work of the WSWA Conservation Sub-Committee and its legal perturbations with the proposed changes to Biodiversity Conservation Act. We will learn how to preserve the unique world-class biodiversity in our State, and how to respond to the recent legislative changes impacting our Banksia Woodlands and Swan Coastal Plains wetlands.

Everyone is welcome.

Door opens at 7.30 for the talks starting at 8pm. Refreshments provided. Come, learn, chat and mingle.
