Paul Doughty: Southwestern Australian Frogs
9 November, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
$2.00Dr Paul Doughty (Curator of Herpetology, WA Museum) will be talking about the 30 southwestern Australian frogs which show a wide diversity of size, shape and habits; many evolved from ancient Gondwanan times. During his talk, Paul will cover most of the species in the southwest, including the 2 ½ species of ubiquitous tree frogs, and the burrowing species of Quackers, Moaners and Banjos. As frog breeding is heavily tied to the reliable winter rainfall in the southwest, the different breeding biology employed by various species will also be covered. Calls of all species will be presented, as well as what frogs make the sounds, to help you ID them.
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
