Perth Branch General Meeting Featuring New Observations by Fred and Jean Hort

9 July @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Recent Observations: Flora and Fauna

Fred and Jean Hort, retired teachers, have a passion for exploring and conserving the unique flora and fauna of Western Australia. As Parks and Wildlife volunteers for over 30 years they have participated in flora studies collecting/co-collecting over 5000 plant specimens lodged with WA Herbarium. They specialise on recording new locations of rare and poorly known flora. During their journey they recorded many undescribed specimens of flora and fauna.

On Tuesday 9 July the Horts will talk about their most recent observations:

  • Tiny black pollinator flies on Olearia.
  • New Butterfly study completed
  • Duck Orchids – visiting old sites
  • Drosera revision – recent discoveries
  • Threatened plants: Byblis gigantea study
  • Podocarpus drouynianus study: revisiting old sites
    … and more

This year our meetings are being held at The Palms Community Centre. Doors open at 7.45 pm for an 8 pm start with a $3 donation giving you entry into the night’s door prize. All are welcome.
