Perth’s Special Bushland Reserves at the Perth Branch General Meeting
11 October, 2022 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Natural bush reserves in Perth provide vital habit and refuges for flora and fauna in an increasingly urbanised city. Wildlife aside, local residents searching for an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life also treasure their local patch of bushland. Despite continued pressures from weeds, unregulated fires and development, these pockets of biodiversity give us a taste of what Perth was like before urban sprawl took hold. Some are large and iconic, Kings Park and Bold Park are foremost amongst these. Others are hidden in the midst of suburbia with little or no connection to neighbouring bushland patches. Importantly, many form part of Perth’s Bush Forever plan, a strategy introduced over 20 years ago to attempt to preserve Perth’s unique bushland.
Where exactly are our bushland reserves and how are they faring? Some of the answers will come this Tuesday evening, 11 October at the Subiaco Community Centre, the Perth Branch of the Wildflower Society will host a range of speakers who will introduce some of Perth’s bushland reserves, some well known, others hidden gems.
Doors open at 7.45 pm for an 8 pm start. A $3 donation gets you entry into the night’s door prize. All are welcome.
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
