Helen has a degree in Botany and has taught Biology at Curtin and Bendigo, as well as 25 years at Iona College. After retiring, Helen became a volunteer at Meelup where she prunes trails, removes weeds, and identifies plants. Helen has also made a three volume field herbarium of the weeds at Meelup as a guide for volunteers when weeding. It was at Meelup that she met Richard when he enlisted the volunteers to help him collect seeds. That led to a visit to the Geographe Community Landcare Nursery to see how the seeds are processed, and she has been in the seed shed since becoming hooked. As a member of Toby Inlet Catchment group for many years, since relocating to Quindalup, Helen has become the Deputy Chair and is involved with habitat restoration and other related activities. Helen is especially passionate about weed control and revegetating along the Toby Inlet to improve habitat for the Western Ringtail Possums and Quendas.
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
