Restoring Banksia woodlands
1 August, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
$3.00Did you know that the extent of Banksia woodlands on the Swan Coastal Plain has been reduced by over 60%?!
There is a pressing need to understand how to restore these threatened communities.
Lauren Svejcar is a PhD student at Murdoch University and Kings Park Science. Her research is currently in post-mine restoration, specifically looking at plant-plant interactions in areas mined for sand within the banksia woodland ecosystem. The goals of this research are to improve the efficacy of restoration efforts throughout our endangered banksia woodlands and build on our understanding of how this rare ecosystem functions.
Join us to hear about the outcomes of Lauren’s research and her stories in the field counting seedlings all day every day!
$3 raffle ticket entry, supper included. Members and non-members welcome!
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
