Wildflowers From Afar
13 October, 2016 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
$2.00Armadale Branch members, with the aid of colourful images, will discuss some wildflowers from afar.
Sue Radford will speak about the flora of the South African fynbos ecoregion and the factors affecting conservation efforts. Sue will compare the fynbos with the Western Australian kwongkan ecoregion.
Linda Mason will speak about the wildflowers (and a few animals) of Alaska focussing on Kodiak Island, the large island off the south coast.
Kim Sarti will speak about the wildflowers of the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. The three main growing zones of valleys (with porous soils), canyons (carved by glacial action) and alpine (above the treeline) provide diverse communities of trees, shrubs and understorey in this harsh environment.
The Wildflower Society uses its independent technical knowledge of WA’s wildflowers to help you better know, grow, enjoy and conserve the wildflowers of Western Australia.
