The York community turned out in force to support our annual plant sale this month. Over 1500 tubestock were carried off, destined for local gardens, paddocks and containers.
Also for sale were cloth badges and tote bags featuring the York Branch logo, packets of seeds, and Grow With Us folders. The purchase of 10 or more plants earnt customers a ticket in a raffle for a pair of Merry People Boots. 19 pairs were donated to our Branch by the company as a result of a brilliant essay submitted by one of our group about the work we do for the environment and community. Members had first option for a pair, and the remainder will be raffled.
For the first time, we used the Tyro BYO app to process payments, and that was very popular; so much so that our “payments officer” had trouble keeping up!
Everyone worked really well together, carrying out various tasks and keeping things running smoothly. We are so lucky to have the use of the Peace Park Markets as there is plenty of room for people to browse around the tables to make their selections. Many had a copy of our catalogue and came with their list ready to fill. Photos of species on stakes helped people to decide what they wanted, and our members were on hand to answer questions.
We have enough stock left to hold another sale on 13th June at the Markets.
