But not only will Nancy be helping us in our gardens, but discussing the impacts of our garden choices and how choosing local flora does much more for our environment than just look fantastic!

There must be thousands of disillusioned gardeners whose plants have suffered continual failure due to too little knowledge of Western Australian plants and the environment.
There will be a price to pay by all of us for being native flora gardening illiterate.
“The efforts of the home gardeners to green Australia will ultimately filter through to our terminally-ignorant local government bodies. …Sadly, after 200 years of living with our native flora, there is still little understanding by Australians, particularly by public agencies, of the potential of our floral resources”.

I consider that our gardening knowledge has not improved since Peter Bindon’s article written in 1997. I am going to demonstrate how members of the Western Australian Wildflower Society, in conjunction with Native Plant Nurseries, can help home gardeners to green Western Australia successfully and in doing so educate “our terminally-ignorant local government bodies”.
