Lesley Brooker’s publication “Wildflowers of York” was officially launched on Sunday 30th August, by Professor Kingsley Dixon. The event, organised by York Branch, was attended by 65 enthusiasts, many travelling up from Perth. The York Racecourse was chosen as the venue, and local caterers Belissimo and Silver Spoon Catering provided great food.
The book has been highly anticipated due to publicity received through a pre-ordering process. Over 90 copies were sold at a special price prior to the launch. Purchasers on the day were delighted to have their copies signed by Lesley.
Afternoon tea was served at the York Bushland Garden where people could enjoy it at its Spring best and admire the recent additions to the Nursery. Branch President Liz Manning gave a short history of the Garden and acknowledged all who have contributed to its development since its beginnings in 2004.
The book will be on sale at The York Visitor Centre or through the York Branch.
