EVENT DETAILS

Cat Williams is the Conservation Officer for the Greater Brixton Street Wetlands, Kenwick. She is responsible for overseeing on ground delivery of a $1.5 million investment supporting the long term protection of one of Perth’s most ecologically significant wetland systems. The site supports more than 650 plant species, including a number of taxa listed as critically endangered.
Cat’s role encompasses landscape scale weed management, targeted habitat restoration, biodiversity monitoring, improved site presentation and signage, and ongoing rubbish removal. A core focus is ensuring that works are strategically prioritised and evidence based, with monitoring used to inform adaptive management over time.
Equally important is to continue collaboration with local community groups and land care organisations, supported through grants and structured engagement. These partnerships are critical to maintaining stewardship at a time when the wetlands face increasing pressure from surrounding urban development. Collectively, this work aims to safeguard ecological values while strengthening the site’s resilience into the future.
