Eastern Hills Branch Monthly Meeting – Maintaining Healthy Waterways from your Backyard – Natasha Bowden

Octagonal Hall,
52 McGlew Road Glen Forrest

EVENT DETAILS

The South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare (SERCUL) was formed in 2003 as an independent Natural Resource Management body in Perth, Western Australia. SERCUL brings together the community, business and government to develop and implement projects that improve the health of our waterways and other ecosystems.

Education Manager, Natasha Bowden, will be presenting Maintaining Healthy Waterways from your Backyard’ which will cover why waterways need to be considered in all activities you do regardless of how near or far you live from a wetland or river! Sources of nutrients (and other pollution) and the ways in which they move through the landscape, how excess nutrients impact waterways through the formation of algal blooms and the detrimental impact these algal blooms can have on human, flora and fauna health will all be discussed along with what each of us can do to lessen our impact on our aquatic environments.

Our monthly meeting includes a talk followed by supper. You don’t need to be a member, and you are welcome to bring along a plant you may want identified.

$3 nonmembers, $2 members, includes  supper
