Dryandra suitable for south Western Australian gardens

Dryandra are found exclusively in the southwest of Western Australia growing often in poor, shallow and clayey soils such as lateritic gravel.  They are drought- and mostly frost-hardy and so long as you provide good drainage, full sun to part-shade conditions and good airflow around them, they will reward you by being a really tough garden plant.  Where soils are not naturally well-drained, most Dryandra will do well in beds raised 120-200 mm above ground level and they can also be grown in containers.  If you are interested in attracting wildlife into your garden then growing a Dryandra is a must as they attract nectar-feeding birds, mammals and a wide array of insects.
