Murdoch Branch Oct 2026 Guest Speaker.
Professor Rachel Standish will be reflecting on the key challenges and opportunities for biodiversity conservation in our changing world. She will share her lived experience, scientific learnings, and reflections as researcher and educator.
Rachel was born in Fremantle and spent her childhood playing in banksia woodlands near home. She currently is a research and teaching academic at Murdoch University. In research, she is motivated to learn how our state’s unique vegetation communities recover from disturbance and respond to climate change to inform their restoration and conservation.
Rachel’s primary role is to inspire the next generation of ecologists and conservation biologists.
She said “I am privileged to live and work in Western Australia. I love that science combines creativity with logic to show how we can care for Country.”
